"SERVING WISE AND DICKENSON COUNTIES"

We are PAWS of SWVA --"People for Animal Wellness and Safety of Southwest Virginia".

We are a 501.c3 tax exempt entity dedicated to a Neuter & Spay Program that reduces the number of healthy animals euthanized by our local shelters.

Our funds help support the care of foster animals and a low cost neuter & spay program for adopted animals. We are a group of volunteers working in our community with no formal facilities. We depend solely on tax deductible donations and volunteer assistance.  If you

would like to make a gift or support our cause, please feel free to make a donation by postal mail or through our donations page.

PAWS of SWVA works in conjunction with the Wise and Dickenson County Animal Shelters to encourage the adoption of shelter pets and to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering pets.

Unfortunately, we are NOT able to assist the general public with spay/neuter costs. We operate on very limited funds, and this money is used to care for the animals that we are currently fostering.

FEATURED PET: C.J. - Jack Russell, male, 3 years

Hi everyone!

I went on a big adventure today.  Mommy Carla came to feed everyone and play.  Then she went and got a leash and told me we was going for a ride!  I was so excited.  She was, too, until we got in the vehicle, i jumped in the back and tore a big junk out of her jazzercise mat.  She wasn't real happy with me; I think she even threatened not to take me anywhere---but we went anyway.  She rolled down the window some and I  stuck my head out.  There was all kinds of smells out there!!  She took me to Tractor Supply, I was so excited.  I was jumping all over the parking lot and then she took me to the TOY aisle.  Oh my, I never realized one place would have so many squeaky toys!!  She told me i could pick out a toy!

I picked the yellow squeaky bone and squeaked it all over the store.  Then we went to get chew bones for Ellie and Maggie since they didnt get to go on our big adventure.  When we went to the checkout the cashier really liked me.  I didn't want to give up the toy to be scanned though.  Mommy Carla had to tear the tag off of it so she could pay
for it.  Then we went through the drive-thru at McDonalds.  We got little hamburgers for everyone.  We even bought one for Tiffany in case she came over.   I didnt want to wait until we got home for the burgers but I did.  When we got home, Mommy Carla tore everyone's hamburgers up in little pieces for us to eat and we each got a bone.

We played and played with my new sqeaky toy. I had so much fun, I can't wait to find my forever home so my new mommy and daddy can take me places.  But until i find that please don't give up on me, I really am a good dog.
